Change the words you use and Change your LIFE

The words we use have a huge impact on the quality of our Life. The NLP Communication Model defines how we affect our own results. At any point in time we are bombarded with 2 million bits of information. And then our Brain does not process all of them. We take in these information primarily using the 5 senses of See, Hear, Feel, Touch and Taste.
The Brain takes on 7 bits of information to process and the remaining of them are Deleted, Distorted or Generalized. These are based on the our past memories and after applying these filters as they are called, we create an Internal Representation in our Brain. The Internal Representation puts us in a State of Mind that defines Action.
Deletion: We delete certain data or we omit data selectively paying attention to only what we want. A classic example would be a newspaper. While reading the news paper you only focus on what you want and as you flip you would have deleted some very important information
Distortion: This is when we change the meaning of an experience. When I say “It is better to drive slow on the crowded road”, its just means that. I told this to a friend of mine and he said “If I don’t drive fast on a High way its so dull and boring”. This is a classy example of Distortion where you tend to change the meaning and attach the meaning what you want for it.
Generalization: These are Global Conclusions. When I say “All people are dishonest”, its a subjective experience that I have added the Generalization and said “ALL” which is not really true.
These Deletions, Distortions and Generalizations affect the Internal Representation and affect the state. Say for example you say “I always lose money”. You start running pictures of your previous experiences and says “Yes I lose money so I better be careful” and you end up taking no action.
Say for example we say to ourselves, Investing is “Stock Market is Risky”, this is a distortion and hence you will put yourself in a bad state of mind and this does not help you to take action. Instead you say “Stock market is Risky, if I do not know the strategy”, then it works wonders and you start taking action to learn the strategies.
Be careful with the words that you use…
